Research Experience:

Assoc Prof Ts. Dr. Aeslina Abdul Kadir has joined Universiti Tun Hussein Onn in Malaysia since 2003, after graduating in B.Sc. with Honor in Environmental Science at University Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM). Currently, she is attached to the Department of Environment and Water Resources at Faculty of Civil and Environmental Engineering as a Deputy Dean Of Alumni and Student Affairs. She has obtained her Master's degree in Civil Engineering at Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), and her Doctorate degree in Civil Engineering from RMIT University, Australia. Her fields of interest are solid waste management, hazardous waste minimization, building material, waste recycling and wastewater treatment. 

 

With background in Environmental Science and her qualification in PhD in Civil Engineering as well as her vast experience and involvement in the field of education, her expertise and interest covers a wide scope which includes solid and hazardous waste management, waste recycling, waste technology, waste treatment, water and wastewater treatment and building material that always put concern towards society needs in the first place. Her academic and professional endeavour that includes teaching, research, publication and consultation are also closely related in these areas.

 

In terms of research work especially on recycling waste in building material and smart technology, Associate Professor Ts. Dr. Aeslina and her team have spearheaded a prototype of an award winning Smart Recycle Bin. Among the awards that they won are Gold Medal and Best Product at Research Innnovation Festival (R&I), Gold Medal at Innovative Research, Invention and Application (IRIA), Gold Medal at Invention, Innovation and Design Exposition (IIDEX), Special Award-Taiwan Honor of Invention at Malaysia Technology Expo (MTE) and Gold Medal and GtreX Award at Green Technology Exposition (GTreX), Vietnam. Her product also secured national grants; Product Development Grant (GPP), Prototype Research Grant Scheme (PRGS), and international grant from The Sumitomo Foundation from Japan with close collaboration with researcher from Saitama University. In addition consultation projects were also secured from local authorities and companies. Since then, the prototype has received numerous attention from various governmental bodies, local communities and society. Apart from that, they have active research collaboration with Solid Waste and Public Cleansing Management Corporation (SWCorp), an organization that responsible to manage waste across Malaysia on this project. As a result of this collaboration, this product has been launched and her team managed to initiate a trial program, where five (5) prototypes of the product is currently undergoing field testing at indentified locations.
